The Houseman/Butler will coordinate closely with housekeeping staff while also stepping in to assist with light cleaning as needed, monitor household inventory and supplies, and proactively address maintenance needs through light handyman tasks such as minor repairs, troubleshooting appliances, and general upkeep. The role also involves overseeing the proper operation of home systems, including lighting, HVAC, and AV, in collaboration with vendors and the property manager, as well as ensuring vehicles are maintained, clean, and readily available. A strong service mindset is essential, as the Houseman/Butler will uphold five-star hospitality standards at all times, assisting with daily meal service, guest reception, and both formal and informal dining.
The role requires supporting the principals and their guests with day-to-day needs, including handling packages, luggage, and errands, as well as playing an integral part in the setup, execution, and breakdown of private events and social gatherings. The candidate will also be responsible for ensuring the home is fully prepared in advance of any guest arrivals. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with light meal preparation alongside the private chef, providing chauffeur services for the principals, supporting household organization projects, managing packing and unpacking for travel, and overseeing basic wardrobe care such as steaming and organizing seasonal clothing. Occasional support with floral arrangements and seasonal décor may also be required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in a similar role within a UHNW household or luxury hospitality setting, with a strong understanding of household operations and service etiquette. Impeccable attention to detail, discretion, and organizational skills are essential, along with comfort working with smart home systems and basic technology.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States, possess a valid driver’s license with a clean record, and be willing to undergo background checks and provide strong references. This role requires a polished, calm, and professional demeanor, as well as a flexible, team-oriented mindset and a “no task too small” attitude.
