Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What requirements are necessary for me to apply for nanny positions via the Nanny Authority?
A: You must have valid United States work authorization, be fluent in English, have a minimum of three (3) years of recent, long-term experience working with children in private homes, and have fully verifiable references.

Q: Do I have to pay any fees?
A: No! We never charge nannies fees.

Q: How long must I commit to a Nanny position?
A: Our nannies must make at least a one-year commitment to any family they meet through our agency.

Q: Must I relocate?
A: It depends on the position! If you are open to relocation, we likely have positions open that would require relocation. The majority of our positions open in the Northeastern United States, as our main office is headquartered in New York City. There is a chance we may have an open position in your area, wherever your area may be! Take a look at our open positions.

Q: What duties am I expected to perform?
A: Nannies are responsible for all childcare related tasks, including light housekeeping, children’s meals/snacks, children’s laundry, and children’s transportation. Some job orders might require errands or other more specific family-related duties.

Q: Do I need to be able to drive? If so, must I provide my own vehicle?
A: You do not necessarily need to be able to drive. When driving is required, it is the family’s responsibility to provide a vehicle for the nanny’s use.

Q: How many hours per day should I expect to work?
A: It depends on the specific job description. Most full-time, live-in or live-out nannies can expect to work a 10-12 hour day. Part-time positions vary depending on the family’s needs.

Q: Will families provide health insurance for me?
A: There is no requirement for families to pay for the Nanny’s health insurance, although many contribute toward your health insurance costs or pay your costs in full if you are working for them in a full-time capacity.

Q: What type of Nanny support do you offer?
A: With over 60 years of experience among our staff, we are the only agency that provides our nannies with free lifetime access to placement specialists who understand your needs and are happy to assist you in all phases of your placement and help guide you throughout your professional life.

Q: How do I apply?
A: In order to apply, complete the preliminary application on our website, email your resume to info@nannyauthority.com or call us at (973) 466-2669, to speak directly with our staff.

Q: What happens next?
A: A member of the Nanny Authority team will contact you within 2-3 business days after receiving your online application or resume. If we feel able to help with your search, we will find a time for an in-office, Skype, or FaceTime interview with a placement specialist. We then verify and speak with all of your references. After we check your references, we will create a profile for you including your resume and any reference letters your past families have written on your behalf. We will then begin sharing your profile with families, who will decide based on your resume if they would like to move forward with a phone or in-person interview.
