A family, in Fairfield County, Connecticut needs to hire an experienced House Manager & Household Assistant to oversee the day-to-day operation, organization, and care of their property. Responsibilities include: overseeing the overall condition and organization of the residence, household shopping, provisioning, & inventory, maintaining beautifully organized spaces, assisting with events and preparing the property for guests, light daily household upkeep, assisting with simple meal preparation, coordinating routine household maintenance, overseeing the home when the principals travel, and proactively identifying and addressing issues throughout the property. The House Manager/ Household Assistant will also be responsible for the thoughtful care and preservation of antiques, natural-fiber textiles, furnishings, and other specialty household items, and should be comfortable managing the unique maintenance needs of an older, historically significant property. This is a senior household management and stewardship position best suited to a seasoned private service professional with significant experience managing formal or high-end residences. The family employs a part-time housekeeping team to support the day-to-day upkeep of the home. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented and hospitality/ service-oriented, with excellent communication, interpersonal, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills. Candidates should be comfortable working independently, collaborating with and overseeing household staff as needed and managing multiple priorities within a large and complex residence. Substantial private household or estate management experience is required, along with a strong understanding of the standards, systems, and attention to detail expected in a formal home. Experience or professional training within a European-style household or formal service environment is strongly preferred. Candidates must also be physically comfortable working throughout a large property, including, bending, lifting, and safely using a ladder as needed. The schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 8:30am to 4:30om with flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as household needs arise. The family employs a housekeeper, so no heavy cleaning is required; however, the Nanny should be proactive about tidying up after the children and helping maintain an organized household. The ideal candidate will be energetic, educated, city-savvy, and confident taking the lead throughout the afternoon and evening. A bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred, and additional higher education is a plus. Driving is a plus, and the family has a vehicle available for use if desired. As first-time parent they are seeking someone who can serve as both a collaborative partner and a trusted source of guidance, proactively communicating observations, offering thoughtful recommendations, and helping establish healthy routines as the baby grows and develops. The ideal candidate will be sweet, maternal, focused, nurturing, and highly confident in their expertise, with the ability to take the lead when appropriate while remaining respectful of the parents’ preferences and approach. They are ideally seeking someone with 10–15+ years of professional newborn experience. The family would especially value a candidate who has prior experience supporting families who have welcomed a child through surrogacy and/or adoption. Strong experience with formula feeding is also highly preferred. Current infant and child CPR and First Aid certification is required, and formal Newborn Care Specialist certification and/or related professional newborn training is a plus. NYC experience is a must, as is English language proficiency, and the ability to work in a home with a friendly dog. The family may also require occasional light domestic travel along the East Coast to visit relatives, so flexibility to travel is important. This is a live-in position, staring May 1st 2027, anticipated to last approximately three to four months, depending on the family’s needs, with a schedule of 20 hours per day, seven days per week, including a four-hour daily break.
