This Weekend’s Activities in the NYC Area!

The fall season is right around the corner, bringing with it child-friendly activities at various festivals and outdoor gardens around New York. Take advantage of some of the following below:

New York Botanical Gardens: Are your kids in the mood for Halloween already? Stop by the New York Botanical Gardens from now until October 30th to explore more than 30 scarecrows located among some rare and unusual pumpkins. Visitors can also participate in a puppet show, enjoy a spooky tea party and explore the flowers, fruits, and seeds on view in the Adventure Garden.

Kids Season at the Lincoln Center kicks off on Saturday, September 17th, 2016 with a story-and-music double feature entitled Meet Me at the Fountain/The Canary Flies at Midnight featuring beloved astronaut, Chris Hadfield, and Grammy winning children’s performer, Tim Kubart and the Space Cadets.

The Farm Fresh Festival for Kids is a free community event held on Saturday, September 17th, 2016 at the Seaport District in Lower Manhattan. Families will get the chance to enjoy farm fresh foods, exercise and play in a festive environment while working toward a good cause. Some of the adventures include Meet the Farmers and Animals, Kindness Corner, and The Reading Orchard. Children will also be able to make guacamole with the help of the Dos Caminos chefs.

The 92Y Street Festival is a free, public outdoor festival on Sunday, September 18th, 2016 spanning fifteen blocks on New York City’s Upper East Side. Families can peruse various entertainment activities as well as catch some performances. Past live performances included acts from A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder as well as Fiddler on the Roof.

On Sunday, September 18th, 2016 and Sunday, September 25th, 2016, families with children ages 5 and up can create abstract works of art based on current exhibits at the Open Studies for Families at the Guggenheim Museum.

The 9th Annual Long Island Family Festival takes place from Friday, September 16th, 2016 to Sunday, September 18th, 2016. The festival is held in Babylon, Long Island and families can enjoy various attractions, fun-filled activities, and enjoy some delicious food from around the world.
