A family, on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, needs to hire an experienced Overnight Baby Nurse/Newborn Care Specialist to assist with the arrival of their newborn in March 2027, with an anticipated start date likely around the last weekend in March. Responsibilities include all aspects of overnight newborn care: formula preparation & feeding, diaper changes, soothing, monitoring, and establishing healthy sleep habits, as well as light baby-related housekeeping such as bottle washing, baby laundry, and general nursery tidying. The family is happy to accommodate the Baby Nurse either in the nursery or in an adjacent guest bedroom, where they may rest during downtime while monitoring the baby. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5–7 years of extensive, hands-on newborn care experience, with a strong preference for professionals who have previously supported families welcoming babies through surrogacy or adoption and who are well-versed in formula feeding. While Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) certification is a plus, the family places greater value on substantial, relevant experience caring for newborns. Candidates must be fully vaccinated, including Tdap, MMR, and seasonal influenza, and hold current infant CPR certification. Applicants must also be comfortable working in a home with cats and must already reside within the NYC tri-state area, as this is a live-out position with the Baby Nurse returning home during the day and on scheduled time off. The ideal candidate will be warm, calm, knowledgeable, flexible, and confident in providing exceptional overnight newborn care while supporting the family through this exciting new chapter. The family is seeking support for a minimum of one month, with a strong possibility of extending the assignment depending on their evolving needs. The initial schedule will likely consist of seven nights per week, working 12-hour overnight shifts from approximately 7/8pm–7/8am. The family would appreciate some flexibility, as they may eventually reduce the number of nights per week or extend the overall duration of the assignment. Salary range: $40-50/hr. Late March start.
