There are a number of fun-filled events that families can take advantage of this upcoming weekend. These activities include celebrating harvest season, getting a head start on the Thanksgiving holiday, and making some delicious pies and treats.
Perfect Pumpkin Pie Workshop: Stop by Wave Hill this Saturday, November 19th, 2016 for a chance to conquer your pie-making anxiety by making your own in this interactive, hands-on workshop. A chef from Great Performances will provide assistance and at the end of the program, children will have the chance to bake their pie in the kitchen and then take it home the same day.
Holiday Train Show: The 25th Annual Holiday Train Show kicks off on Saturday, November 19th, 2016 at the New York Botanical Gardens. Model trains drive through a carefully re-created display of 150 landmarks, including the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, and Rockefeller Center.
Creative Saturday: Held on one Saturday per month, this month’s Creative Saturday at the Goddard Riverside Community Center will be held on Saturday, November 19th, 2016. During the workshop, children will create a musical where they can sing, dance, and act. It’s also suggested that children bring canned goods that will be distributed to local shelters.
Grand Central Holiday Fair: The Grand Central Holiday Market is in full swing. Considered to be one of the longest-running indoor holiday fairs in New York City, families can stop by and peruse handmade products from 40 vendors.
Winter Village at Bryant Park: Another holiday market to visit is the Winter Village at Bryant Park. Families can take advantage of free admission ice-skating, browse the many artisanal shops and enjoy treats such as hot cider, bacon donuts, and truffle fries.
Operation Slumber: Operation Slumber is held overnight at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum on Saturday, November 19th, 2016. This exciting sleepover is geared towards children ages 6-17 years old. Kids will enjoy the chance to sleep among the aircraft on the hangar deck, partake in unlimited rides in the new 4D flight simulator, and receive a goodie bag with Intrepid souvenirs.
I’m Thankful Celebration!: The Brooklyn Children’s Museum is having a celebration this weekend to give your kids the chance to reflect on all the things that they’re grateful for. Children will learn about the traditions of Native Americans, participate in hands-on arts and crafts activities, and partake in a pumpkin scavenger hunt in the Museum’s garden.
Harvest Time Jam: Families can stop by the New York Hall of Science to break and smash seasonal fruit into a delicious batch of homemade jam on Sunday, November 20th, 2016.
